"The Divine Comedy" (La Divina Commedia in Italian) is the epic poem on which the game Dante's Inferno is based.

The poem is written by Dante Alighieri between 1308 and his death in 1321. It consists of 14,233 line divided into three canticles, each one representing one of the three kingdoms of the afterlife. The poem tells the story of Dante's travels through the afterlife, and serves as an allegory for the journey of a man's soul to God.
