Fra Alberigo was one of the Damned which Dante must punish or absolve for "The Damned" achievement/trophy. He was encountered in the circle of Treachery and acts as the host of this circle.

Trivia
- In The Inferno, Dante and Virgil witness the shade of Fra Alberigo frozen within the ice of Cocytus' third round, Ptolomea, for the sinful act of betraying his own guests. The historic Fra Alberigo in fact did not kill his son nor was said to have betrayed his country, but he had murdered his brother and nephew during a feast; the signal to kill them being when Alberigo asked for "figs" to be brought to the table. His quote in the game reflects this crime.
